Vermont 73, Delaware 62

BURLINGTON, VT -- Vermont center Karalyn Church scored 23 points and pulled 13 rebounds as the Catamounts continued their home dominance of the University of Delaware, defeating the Blue Hens 73-62 Saturday in an America East women's basketball game at Patrick Gymnasium.

The teams entered the game tied for third place in the America East standings, but the Catamounts broke away midway through the second half, holding the Hens scoreless for a stretch of seven minutes.Vermont downed the Hens at Patrick for the 11th straight time.

Delaware (14-8, 8-6), which had a three-game win streak snapped, was led by forward Danielle Leyfert who had a team-high 17 points, pulled eight rebounds, and had three steals. Freshman guard Megan Dellegrotti had 14 points, including four three-pointers, and guard Cindy Johnson had her 14th straight double figure scoring effort with 10 points.

Vermont (14-9, 9-5) also got 15 points and six assists from guard Libby Smith while Kerry Duggan came off the bench to add nine points, including two three-pointers.

The Hens trailed by as much as seven points early in the second half before rallying to tie the game at 56-56 on a Leyfert free throw with 8:45 left to play. But the Catamounts followed with a charge, putting together a 11-0 run and holding the Hens scoreless until Christina Rible hit a free throw with 1:49 left to play.
