NEWARK, DE - The University of Delaware women's basketball team jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never trailed for the rest of the game as the Hens won 64-56 in America East play against Hartford to move to 6-0 at home for the year.

The win was also the Blue Hens' seventh in a row at home dating back to last season. The win gave Delaware (9-5, 3-3 America East) its third conference win which matched last season's conference win total (3-15). Hartford, coming off a 30-point win over Towson Thursday, fell to 6-7, 3-2

After jumping out to a 10-0 lead Delaware was on top 37-16 with 2:05 left in the first half. The Hens led 39-19 going into halftime. Delaware led 52-29 with 13:38 left in the game, but the Hawks went on a 15-0 run to move the score to 52-44 with 9:41 left in the game. The Hawks managed to have possession of the ball down 61-56 but Tracy Stolle got called for a charge with 1:22 left and

Delaware hit three out four free throws down the stretch to put the game away.

Cindy Johnson (Far Rockaway, N.Y./August Martin) led the Blue Hens with 15 points, four rebounds and four assists while Christina Rible (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Regional) led the Hens in rebounding for the third game in a row with 10 rebounds. Danielle Leyfert (Vienna, Va./Oakton) had 13 points for the Hens until she hurt her ankle late in the game, her ankle will be checked tomorrow to determine if there is a sprain.

Hartford was led by Desiree Humbert who had 12 points and six rebounds, Kelly Ann Charles was the only other Hawk in double figures with 10 points off the bench.

Delaware will be in action on Tuesday when the Blue Hens take on Hofstra in the Bob Carpenter Center at 7 p.m.
