Drexel 75, Delaware 66

The Blue Hens stormed back from a big early deficit but fell just short with a 75-66 loss to host Drexel in Delaware's America East opener Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia.

Drexel (3-2, 1-0), which led 39-24 at halftime and were up 54-32 with 12 minutes left to play, got 21 points and seven rebounds from center Michelle Maslowski, 13 points from Jenna Vebrosky, and 12 points from Mikki Miller.

Delaware (3-3, 0-1) stormed back, cutting the Dragon lead to five at 67-62 with 1:35 left to play. But Drexel held on, hitting 8 of 10 free throws down the stretch to never let the Hens get closer.

Renee Baker led the Blue Hens with 18 points and seven rebounds while freshman Christina Rible came off the bench to score 14 points and pulled a team-high 11 rebounds. Lindsay Davis added nine points for the Hens, including two three-pointers down the stretch that pulled the Hens to within five of Drexel.
