DURHAM, NH -- Orsi Farkas scored a career-high 35 points and pulled 10 rebounds as New Hampshire defeated Delaware, 75-68, in women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Whiitemore Center.

New Hampshire (10-9, 5-5 America East), a 1999 WNIT participant, avenged a loss to Delaware earlier in the season. The Blue Hens won the first meeting in Newark, 75-56, earlier this month. Delaware (12-7, 5-5) had won the last three meetings between the two clubs.

Danielle Leyfert led Delaware with 22 points and seven rebounds. Cindy Johnson added 13 points, while Christina Rible posted her seventh double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

"Defensively we didn't do a good job controlling Farkas," said Delaware head coach Tina Martin. "I was disappointed with the team's energy, especially in the first half. We just weren't ready to play in the first half. In the second half, we did play harder. New Hampshire was mentally ready today and Delaware was not."

Delaware's inability to take care of the basketball and Farkas' hot shooting led to a 34-23 halftime lead for New Hampshire. Farkas tallied 18 of her points in the first half on 9 of 11 shooting from the field. She also had seven rebounds of her 10 rebounds in that half. Meanwhile, the Blue Hens recorded 14 of their 17 turnovers in the first 20 minutes and shot just 8 for 24 from the field.

Delaware got back to within five, 57-52, on two Suzanne Street free throws with 5:41 to play. However, New Hampshire would hold the Blue Hens off until the final minute.

Trailing 67-59 with 2:30 to play, Delaware went on a 9-4 run. The Blue Hens took advantage of missed free throws by the Wildcats and pulled within 71-68 on a Leyfert drive with 25.2 seconds to play. However, that would be the last points of the day for Delaware, as it failed to score on its next two possessions and the Wildcats canned four free throws for the final margin.

Farkas' 35 points tied for the sixth-highest scoring day by an opponent against Delaware.
