January 2, 2000 Delaware Dominates Boards, Downs New Hampshire 75-56
NEWARK, DE -- The University of Delaware women's basketball team dominated the boards and ran away with its fifth straight victory with a 75-56 America East win over New Hampshire Sunday afternoon at the Bob Carpenter Center. Junior guard Cindy Johnson led the Blue Hens (8-3, 2-1 America East) with 20 points, junior forward Danielle Leyfert had 18 points and 15 rebounds, junior forward Renee Baker had 14 points, and sophomore center Christina Rible chipped in with eight points and 14 rebounds as the Hens held a commanding 59-38 advantage on the boards. Delaware posted 25 rebounds on the offensive side. The Blue Hens, who have now defeated New Hampshire three straight times and won sixth straight at the BCC, have now won five straight games overall. The five-game win streak is the longest for Delaware since opening the 1992-93 season with five straight wins. New Hampshire (5-6, 1-2) got 13 points from All-America East center Orsi Farkas before she fouled out with 4:58 left to play. Forward Adriane Domanski scored 11 points and Heidi Plencner added 10 points off the bench. Delaware, which led 32-26 at halftime, broke the game open early in the second half, starting the stanza on a 15-2 run to put the game away. Johnson's two free throws put the Hens up 47-28 with 14:49 left to cap the run. The Wildcats never got closer than 15 points the rest of the way. AGATE:
