Women's Basketball Exhibition • November 5, 1999 NEWARK, DE - The University of Delaware women's basketball opened up the 1999-2000 season with a victory by holding off the Roto Banska team of Slovakia 87-84, Friday night at the Bob Carpenter Center. Junior Cindy Johnson led the way for the Hens as she scored 23 points, shooting 7-17 from the field and 9-12 from the free throw line. Sophomore Christina Rible added 13 points while grabbing nine rebounds. Team Roto Banska is a team traveling from Slovakia. The team was led by Eva Vodrazkova, who had 19 points, shooting 8-13 from the field. She also had six rebounds in the losing effort. Delaware led the game at halftime 51-45. The game was close up to the very end as Roto Banska outscored the Hens 39-36 in the second half. Delaware led by one with 10 seconds remaining. Michaela Magerciakova fouled Megan Dellegrotti at the 10 second mark. Dellegrotti then iced the game as she sank two free throws for the Hens. Following the foul shots, Roto Banska turned the ball over to Delaware to end the ballgame. Delaware will play its second and final exhibition game on Thursday when it hosts Legacy USA at 7:30 p.m. at the Bob Carpenter Center.
