Dellegrotti fired six three-point field goals enroute to
a new school record as the University of Delaware pounded
Princeton University, 74-43 in women's basketball, Tuesday
night at the Bob Carpenter Center.
Dellegrotti matched her career high of 18
points, scoring all six of her field goals from behind the
three-point arc to lead the Hens. Dellegrotti set a new
school record for three-point field goals made in a game
with six, breaking the old record of five (five tied with
five). She also breaks the individual three-point attempts
record (16 by Dellegrotti-old mark 11).
Co-captain Christine Koren made
her first start of her Delaware career by adding 17 points
and four rebounds. Cindy Johnson and co-captain
Renee Baker led the way on the boards by grabbing
nine each. Delaware (2-0) took the lead for good at 14:37
remaining in first half.
Princeton (0-3) was led by its senior
guard Maggie Langlas, who scored in double figures with 11
points.
As a team, Delaware set a new mark for
three-point field goals made in a game with 11. The old
record was eight against the University of Maine, set on
February 13, 1997. Also, Delaware sets a new record for
three-point attempts with 34 (old mark of 20).
Delaware has now won three consecutive
games at the Bob Carpenter Center and 13 of the last 15. The
Blue Hens will not return to the Bob Carpenter until
December 20 when they host Morgan State. Delaware travels to
Lafayette College on Monday for a 5:45 p.m. start.
