VILLANOVA, PA -- After winning 10 straight matches to start the season, the University of Delaware volleyball team dropped its second straight contest following a 3-1 (28-30, 21-30, 30-24, 22-30) loss at Villanova on Tuesday night.

The Hens had not lost two straight matches since they fell in consecutive contests to Villanova and Hofstra in the middle of last season.

Delaware (10-2) was led by Kelly Gibson (at right), who recorded a team-high 17 kills. It was her first double-digit kill performance since she had 25 against Hofstra in the semifinals of the 2006 CAA Tournament.

Michelle LaLonde also posted 12 kills, while Megan Welch led the squad with 37 assists. Stephanie Barry added a game-high 22 digs for the Hens.

In the match, Delaware had a season-worst .113 attack percentage and a season-high 34 attack errors.

Villanova (5-3) was led by Kacy Sellers, who had 21 kills and 10 blocks. Dana Tartazky also recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 12 digs, while Alona Cherkez chipped in with 14 kills.

The Blue Hens return to action on Friday when they travel to Coastal Carolina for a doubleheader on the first day of the Caravelle Resort Invitational. They are scheduled to face Butler at 10 a.m. and Gardner-Webb at 4:30 p.m.
