HARRISONBURG, VA -- Kelly Gibson’s third straight double-double helped lead the University of Delaware volleyball team to its eighth consecutive victory after the Hens downed James Madison, 3-1 (30-28, 30-25, 28-30, 30-25), during a Colonial Athletic Association bout on Saturday night.

Delaware (18-2, 3-0 CAA) had three players record double-digit kills led by Colleen Walsh who had a team-high 19. Katie Dennehy also notched 12, while Gibson added 10 kills and 12 digs.

Freshman Paige Erickson also posted a season-high 12 blocks. Her block total was the highest by a Hen since Jennifer Wanner had 13 against New Hampshire in 1998.

During the first game, the Hens fell behind 25-20 before scoring 10 of the last 13 points. Gibson added an ace and two kills during the comeback, which was also helped by five consecutive attack errors by the Dukes.

After splitting the next two games, Delaware came out strong in the final frame. The Hens jumped out to a commanding 26-16 lead and never looked back.

Stephanie Barry paced the Hens with 22 digs, while Gibson, Greta Gibboney, Jess Chason, and Megan Welch all recorded 10 or more digs. Welch also tallied a team-high 52 assists.

The Dukes (10-6, 2-1 CAA) were led by Allyson Halls, who posted a match-high 20 kills. Lauren Miles added 54 assists, while Jena Pierson had 25 digs.

The Blue Hens return to action on Friday at 7 p.m. when they host Virginia Commonwealth at Viera Court.
