BOSTON, MA -- Junior Colleen Walsh posted a game-high 16 kills while only committing two errors to lead the University of Delaware volleyball team past CAA rival Northeastern, 3-1 (30-21, 30-32, 30-19, 30-20), Wednesday evening.
The Hens (12-0, 3-0 CAA) are tied atop the CAA standings with Hofstra after winning their first three conference contests. Northeastern is now 4-7 overall with a 2-2 record in the CAA.
For the Blue Hens, junior Kelly Gibson recorded 14 kills, five service aces, and 12 digs. Sue Wiker (right) continued her stellar play since an early season injury by tallying 11 kills with a .500 hitting percentage.
Other Hens making big contributions include senior Heather Ranck who posted a game-high 25 digs while junior setter Megan Welch added a game-high 35 assists.
Ashley Reeves led the way for Northeastern with a team-high 13 kills while teammate Kira Batura posted seven kills to go along with 17 digs for the Huskies.
The Hens will return to action Thursday when they battle for first place in the CAA against Hofstra. Match time is set for 5 p.m at Hempstead, New York.
