Blue Hen Volleyball Defeats George Mason, 3-0, to Remain Unbeaten

athlete photoNEWARK, DE: -- Junior Colleen Walsh continued her hot hitting by posting a game-high 20 kills to lead the University of Delaware volleyball team past CAA foe George Mason, 3-0 (30-22, 30-21, 30-18), Friday evening at Barbara Viera Court.

The win moves Delaware’s record to 9-0 for the first time in school history, while the Patriots fall to 3-4 in the conference opener for both teams.

For the Blue Hens, Walsh recorded her third 20-kill match of the year while sophomore Kelly Gibson posted nine kills to go along with six digs. Junior Megan Welch tallied 40 assists and senior Heather Ranck added a team-high 12 digs.

Freshman Kelly Matthias contributed an excellent game all around, posting eight kills to go along with a game-high five blocks.

Rebecca Walter led the way for George Mason with a team-high 16 kills and eight digs, while Jaqueline Kohler tallied 10 kills and eight digs for the Patriots.

The Hens will return to action Saturday when they take on another CAA rival, James Madison. Match time is set for 1 p.m at Viera Court.
