September 14, 2002 Murphy, Engle Lead Delaware to Second Win in a Row
WILLIAMSBURG, VA -- The University of Delaware volleyball team knocked off William & Mary, 3-1, Saturday night at William & Mary Hall. After dropping the first match 30-23, the Blue Hens rallied to win the next three, 30-23, 30-28 and 30-24, respectively. Sophomore Valerie Murphy (Round Hill, VA/Loudon Valley) had a successful homecoming trip, posting 17 kills and three blocks, while fellow sophomore Sarah Engle (Yorba Linda, CA/Esperanza) notched 11 kills for Delaware (2-8), which has won its last two matches after opening the season with eight straight losses. Also for Delaware, junior Allison Hunter (Sandy, UT/Layton) registered a season-high 53 assists, sophomore Taylor Govaars (Balboa, CA/Newport Harbor) had 13 digs and freshman Jennifer Daniels (Lakewood, CA/St. Joseph's) posted 12 kills. Caitlin Geraghty had 16 kills for William & Mary (3-8). The Blue Hens return to action tomorrow afternoon when they take of Virginia Commonwealth.
