Hens Out of CAA Tourney
HARRISONBURG, VA -- Host James
Madison hit .461 for the game and had three players record
10 or more kills on the way to a 3-0 win (30-25, 30-20,
30-22) over the University of Delaware in the quarterfinals
of the Colonial Athletic Association Volleyball Tournament
Friday night at Sinclair Gymnasium.

The No. 6 seed Blue Hens, who got a
team-high 13 kills from sophomore Sarah Engle
(Esperanza/Yorba Linda, CA) and 30 assists and three digs
from Alison Hunter (Layton/Sandy, UT), suffered their
seventh straight loss and closed the 2002 season with a
record of 9-20, the lowest win total in school history.
Delaware failed to advance to its league semifinals for just
the second time in the last 11 seasons.
No. 3 seed James Madison, which featured
four All-CAA players, remained unbeaten at home this season
at 9-0 and improved to 20-9 on the season as it connected on
46 kills on 76 attempts with just 11 errors. The Dukes hit
an incredible .619 in winning the first game 30-25.
Larissa Winkler led JMU with 13 kills and
five digs, Dana Jones added 11 kills and four blocks, Kate
Fuchs chipped in with 10 kills, and Krysta Cannon added 39
assists.
James Madison advances to face No. 2 seed
Hofstra in the semifinals Saturday at 4 p.m. In the other
quarterfinal game Friday at James Madison, No. 4 seed Towson
rallied from a 2-0 deficit to post a 3-2 win over No. 5
Virginia Commonwealth. Towson will play top seed George
Mason in the second semifinal Saturday at 7 p.m. The finals
will be held Sunday at 5 p.m. with the winner receiving an
automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
