September 28, 2002 Ommundsen Establishes New Career-High with 18 kills
NEWARK, DE -- The University of Delaware volleyball team lost to George Mason Saturday evening, 3-1, at Viera Court at the Carpenter Sports Building. George Mason captured the first game, 30-24, before Delaware rebounding to win game two, 30-22. George Mason then took the next two games, 33-31 and 30-25, respectively. Junior Liz Ommundsen (Northport, NY/Northport), who set a career-high with 16 kills Friday evening with 16 against JMU, led the Blue Hens (3-11, 2-4) with 18 kills, while sophomore Valerie Murphy (Round Hill, VA/Loudoun Valley) notched 16 kills for the Blue Hens. Junior Taylor Govaars (Balboa, CA/Newport Harbor) had 10 digs for Delaware. George Mason was led by reigning Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week Aline Pereira with 24 kills, while three others posted 13 kills for the Patriots, who have won their last three games against Delaware. The Blue Hens return to action Tuesday, October 8, when they play host to Towson University in a CAA Conference match. Match time is set for 7 p.m. AGATE:
