Nov. 4, 1998 at 7:00 p.m. L 2-3 The University of Delaware volleyball team lost a heart-breaking match to LaSalle University 3-2, Wednesday at Carpenter Sports Building. The Hens fell to 12-17 for the season while LaSalle improved to 15-12. The two teams split the first four games. Delaware won the first 15-12 and the third 15-7 while LaSalle won the second 15-8 and the fourth 16-14. LaSalle came out strong in the fifth game and won 15-7. Delaware was led by Kristen Merrill (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph's) who had 16 kills, 32 digs, and four blocks. Jennifer Wanner (Akron, Pa./Conestoga Valley HS) had a double-double with 17 kills and 15 digs. Carlyn Cangiano (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial HS) also had a double-double with 15 kills and 16 digs. Sadie Bjornstad (Rockford, Ill./Boylan) led the Hens with 49 assists. LaSalle was led by Melissa Hodge who had 24 kills. Missy McCulty had 15 kills and 18 digs.
