Delaware hosting the 25th Annual Asics / Delaware Invitational September 24, 1999 Delaware 3, Stony Brook 2 Delaware 3, West Virginia 1 NEWARK, DE - The University of Delaware and Princeton University finished first in their respective pools at the completion of day one at the Asics/Delaware Volleyball Invitational. Delaware (4-10) defeated the University at Stony Brook in its first match, 3-2. In its second match, Delaware defeated West Virginia University, 3-1. The Hens were led by Margaret Lapinski, who had 12 kills and 21 digs against Stony Brook, and Jennifer Wanner, who had 22 kills and 13 digs against West Virginia. With their victory in the first match, the Blue Hens snapped their school record, eight game losing streak. Princeton (8-1) finished first in their pool by defeating Sacred Heart, 3-0, and Syracuse, 3-2. Princeton was led by Erika Hansen, who had 12 kills against Sacred Heart, and Michelle Buffum, who had 22 kills and 10 digs against Syracuse. Sabrina King also added 17 kills and 28 digs versus Syracuse. Cross-over play begins tomorrow at the Bob Carpenter Center with West Virginia taking on Sacred Heart at 10 a.m. Also, Syracuse will oppose Stony Brook at the same time. Princeton will next play at 12:30 p.m. against the winner of the West Virginia/Sacred Heart match. Meanwhile, Delaware will face the winner of the Syracuse/Stony Brook match at 12:30 p.m. The championship finals will be held at 3:30 p.m. with the winners of the above mentioned games.   AGATE Delaware def.
