America East Softball Tournament May 13, 2000 BU Ousts Hens, 2-1   Lauren Mark HEMPSTEAD, NY - Delaware saw its season came to an end Saturday with a 2-1 defeat to Boston University in an elimination game of the America East Softball Tournament. The Blue Hens (36-14) scored first in the top of the first without the benefit of a hit. Mandy Welch opened the game by reaching on an error. Krissy Chrisztopulosz followed with a bunt that was botched to put runners at first and second. After Christine Brady moved the runners over a sacrifice bunt, junior Lauren Mark drove in her 81st career run, one shy of the UD career mark, with a sacrifice fly to center to score Welch. The Terriers (35-18) responded in the bottom of the second when Courtney Herr hit a bullet into the gap in right center. Herr fell down rounding first, but it was enough to score Nili Schnairsohn from first and tie the game. Leslie Linnemeyer then followed with a controversial double. Linneymeyer's ball appeared to bounce off the foul pole screen and back into play. However, the umpires ruled that the ball had hit the top of the fence and Linnemeyer was held to a double that scored Herr and gave the Terriers a 2-1 lead. However, Kristin Knesek flied to center to end the inning. Mark's bid to become the fourth player to ever hit .400 and first since 1982 ended as she dipped below the .400 mark for the first time all season when she flied out to center to end the top of the sixth.
