RICHMOND, VA -- University of Delaware senior centerfielder Katie Lee (at right) was named the Colonial Athletic Association Softball Co-Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Lee, a native of Manassas, VA (Osbourn HS), batted .667 in the Blue Hens’ five games last week while posting team-highs of eight hits and five runs scored. She went 1 for 2 with a walk in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader at Villanova, and was 1 for 1 with a walk, RBI and run scored in the second game against the Wildcats.
Lee led Delaware to a doubleheader sweep of conference rival Drexel on Saturday. She went 2 for 3 with a double, walk, two runs scored and a stolen base in UD’s 5-4 win in the opener, and was 3 for 4 with two runs scored in the 8-0 triumph in the nightcap. Lee went 1 for 2 Sunday against the Dragons to extend her current hitting streak to nine games.
Lee, who has started all but one game for the Blue Hens this season, is batting .333 while ranking second on the team with 25 hits, 24 runs scored and nine stolen bases.She currently ranks second in Delaware history with 41 career stolen bases, third with 95 runs scored, and 12th with 131 hits.
Lee shared CAA Co-Player of the Week honors with Stef Streets of Towson. Kayleigh Lotti of Hofstra was named the CAA Pitcher of the Week, while Catherine Lee of Georgia State was tabbed the CAA Rookie of the Week.
Lee and the Blue Hens travel to Rider on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. doubleheader with the Broncs.
