HEMPSTEAD, NY -- University of Delaware sophomore shortstop Kim Ovittore (at right) was named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association Softball Second Team at the conference awards banquet Wednesday night.

Ovittore, who is tied for the conference lead with four triples this season, ranks fourth in the league with a .369 batting average. She led the Blue Hens in most statistical categories including 52 hits, 24 runs scored, 14 doubles, 29 runs batted it, 80 total bases and 16 walks.

Ovittore’s 14 doubles are tied for the second most in a single season in Delaware history, while she ranks fifth with 80 total bases and ninth with 52 hits.

Ovittore, who recorded an 11-game hitting streak from April 1 through April 18, also led Delaware with 13 multi-hit games and nine multi-RBI games. She was the only Blue Hen to start every game this season, as she started all 45 contests at shortstop.

Ovittore, who recorded a hit in all but nine games this year, had three hits against UNC Wilmington, Rider and Hofstra. She also had 10 two-hit games including a 2 for 3 performance with a double, home run and a season-high three RBI against Drexel on March 24.

Despite playing just two seasons at Delaware, Ovittore already is tied for fifth place in Blue Hen history with seven home runs, eighth with 68 RBI, and tied for eighth with 25 doubles.

Delaware finished the 2007 season with a 16-26-3 record and tied for sixth place in the Colonial Athletic Association with a 7-13 league mark.
