NEWARK, DE -- University of Delaware sophomore second baseman Allison Borchers was named to the All Mid-Atlantic Region Softball First Team while junior pitcher Carolynn Sloat earned second team honors on Wednesday.

Sloat (below right), who was also a second team all-region selection in 2004 as a freshman, becomes the third player in school history to earn all-region honors twice. She went 19-16 with a 1.85 earned run average this season while posting 180 strikeouts and seven shutouts. She fired consecutive shutouts against Delaware State and St. Francis (PA) on March 18 and 19, and also blanked Cornell, Penn, Delaware State, La Salle and Bucknell.
