Villanova 1, Delaware 0 Villanova 3, Delaware 0 April 21, 2004   Game 1 Boxscore | Game 2 Boxscore VILLANOVA, PA -- Shannon Williams threw a three-hit shutout in the opener and Kristen Haynes was nearly perfect in firing a no-hitter in the nightcap as Villanova swept a non-conference softball doubleheader from Delaware, 1-0 and 3-0, on Wednesday.. Williams (16-9) outdueled Delaware's Carolynn Sloat in the opener. She allowed three hits, two by Delaware's Randi Isaacs, and did not walk a batter while striking out eight. Sloat (13-11) allowed just four hits and walked two while striking out five in a losing effort. Villanova scored the game's only run in the second inning. Casandra Koenig doubled to score Lindsey Martin, who had reached on a fielder's choice. In the nightcap, Haynes was nearly perfect, facing one more than the minimum number of batters. Only a two-out walk to Lauren Gardner tarnished Haynes' effort. She struck out nine and walked none in raising her record to 9-7. Villanova (25-16) scored all three runs in the fourth inning, chasing two Delaware pitchers in the inning, including loser Lindsay Jones (1-2). Delaware (21-19) will host UNC Wilmington in a three-game series this weekend. Saturday's doubleheader gets underway at 12 noon.
