James Madison 4, Delaware 2 March 24, 2004  Boxscore Randi Isaacs smacks the second of her two RBI singles in Delaware's 4-2 loss to James Madison. NEWARK, DE -- A four-run fifth inning and outstanding relief pitching by Briana Carrera lifted James Madison to a 4-2 Colonial Athletic Association softball win over Delaware on Sunday afternoon. Carerra allowed just two hits in five innings of relief pitching to pick up the win. She is now 6-6 on the season. She entered the game with the bases loaded and no outs in the third inning and the Dukes (16-16, 2-1) trailing, 2-0. She pitched out of that jam and shut down the Blue Hens (16-12, 1-2) for the rest of the afternoon, striking out six and walking one. James Madison exploded for four runs in the fifth inning. The Dukes had managed just one hit off of Delaware pitcher Carolynn Sloat (9-7) in the first four innings, but rallied in the fifth with six singles to plate the four runs. Kara Schwind drove in the first two runs with a two-run single through the left side of the infield, followed by a two-run single to right by Katie Jaworski. Delaware got on the board in the first inning on an RBI single by Randi Isaacs. With the runners breaking from first and second on a 3-2 pitch, Isaacs ripped a two-out single to right, scoring Kelly Pastic. Delaware made it 2-0 in the third off starting pitcher Liz George when Pastic scored on another RBI single by Isaacs. Pastic finished the day 3-for-3. The two teams combined for 17 hits on the afternoon, all of them singles.
