Hofstra 4, Delaware 3 April 9, 2004 Slam Does Hens in as Hofstra Rallies for Win   Boxscore   HEMPSTEAD, NY -- Tara Ulrich hit a grand slam to center field to rally Hofstra from a 3-0 deficit and give the Pride a 4-3 win over Delaware in CAA softball action at Hofstra Softball Stadium. The win was Hofstra's 20th-consecutive conference home win dating back to the inception of CAA softball. Hofstra raised its record to 14-14 overall and 5-2 in CAA play. Delaware fell to 17-14 overall, 2-4 in CAA action. Delaware took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. With two outs, Laura Streets and Randi Isaacs hit back-to-back singles. Liz Winslow followed with an RBI double to right center, scoring Streets. Jenny Gilkins followed with a ground back back to Hofstra pitcher Adrienne Clark. However, Clark threw the ball away trying for the putout at first, allowing both Isaacs and Winslow to score on the play. After Delaware missed on chances to extend the lead in the second and third innings, stranding two runners in each inning, Hofstra loaded the bases without the ball leaving the infield. A pair of uncharacteristic walks by Delaware's Carolynn Sloat and a bunt single loaded the bases. Sloat retired the next batter before UIrich lifted a fly ball to deep center. The ball hit the top of the center field wall and bounced over to give Hofstra a 4-3 lead. Clark (5-9) settled down after that for Hofstra. She allowed just two base runners over the final four innings to earn a complete-game win. Sloat fell to 10-9 on the season, despite allowing just one hit and two baserunners after the slam by Ulrich.
