UMBC 8, Delaware 7 Delaware 4, UMBC 1 March 12, 2003     Laura Streets NEWARK, DE -- Laura Streets went 5-for-7 with two home runs, five RBI and five runs scored Wednesday for the University of Delaware in a softball doubleheader split at UMBC. Delaware lost the opener, 8-7, but won the nightcap, 4-1. Streets, a junior from Newark, DE, homered in both ends of the twinbill. She went 3-for-4 with three RBI in the opener, and followed with 2-for-3 with two RBI in the nightcap. In the opener, Streets staked Delaware to a 2-0 lead in the first with her two-run home run. However, she was outdone by the Retrievers' Lauren Hebb, who homered twice. She led off the bottom of the first to make it a 2-1 game. Then, Hebb smacked a three-run shot during UMBC's seven-run fourth. In the nightcap, Delaware jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second on Kelley Pastic's two-run single. UMBC got on the board in the fifth with an unearned run, but Streets smashed a two-run home run with one out in the sixth to give winning pitcher Jenn Joseph plenty of insurance. Joseph (1-1) allowed just two hits in earning the complete game win. She struck out four and walked three. Melissa Basilio also had three hits and three RBI in the twinbill.
