Delaware 4, Delaware St. 1 Delaware 4, Delaware St. 1 April 2, 2003 Blue Hens Earn Sweep in Renewal of Intrastate Rivalry    Jenn Joseph DOVER, DE -- The site was new, but the outcome wasn't. Jenn Joseph had four hits in the doubleheader and fired a complete-game four-hitter in the opener as the University of Delaware softball team swept a twinbill from in-state rival Delaware State by identical 4-1 scores Wednesday afternoon. The Blue Hens, playing at Delaware State for the first time, have won all eight meetings between the two schools. Joseph, a product of Brandywine High School, went 2-for-4 with a run scored at the plate struck out eight from the circle in the opener. In the nightcap, Joseph served as the designated player and went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Delaware took advantage of six Delaware State errors on the afternoon, four in the opener and two in the nightcap. In the opener, Delaware took a 2-0 lead in the third. The first run scored on Jenny Gilkins squeeze bunt on which everyone was safe and Sarai Lavandero scored. The second run was plated when Laura Streets followed with a single to right. That was enough support for Joseph (5-3). In the nightcap, Delaware scored twice in the first and twice in the third to give freshman Lindsay Jones room to work. Jones (3-2) allowed just two hits and one run over six innings, while striking out seven and not issuing a walk. Becky Rogers came on to pitch the seventh and earn her second save of the season. Delaware begins Colonial Athletic Association play this weekend when it travels for a three-game series at James Madison beginning with a twinbill on Saturday.
