Towson 6, Delaware 5 Towson 5, Delaware 0 May 4, 2002 Laurie Erickson smacked her first collegiate home run. TOWSON, MD -- A four-run bottom of the sixth decided the opener and a one-hitter by Beth Wilcox sealed the nightcap as Towson University swept a Colonial Athletic Association softball doubleheader, 6-5 and 5-0, over Delaware Saturday afternoon. Wilcox walked three and struck out one in firing the one-hitter to raise her recoord to 9-7 on the season. Wilcox took a no-hit bid into the sixth before Laura Streets broke it up with an infield single. In the opener, Laurie Erickson's first collegiate home run, a two-run shot, was the big blow in a three-run fourth for Delaware that gave the Blue Hens a 4-1 lead. After Towson closed to within 4-2, Erickson smacked an RBI single to give Delaware a 5-2 lead entering the bottom of the sixth. Towson, however, would not fold. The Tigers (31-19, 8-6) loaded the bases with no outs on a single, a walk and a hit by pitch. After Delaware got the first two outs on two fielder's choices, Brooke Clyde drew a bases loaded walk to make it a 5-3 game. Becky Rogers came in to relieve starter Amanda Cariello, but was welcomed by an RBI single by Chris Navarro to pull Towson within a run. Sam Schaukowitch then followed with a two-run single to left to give Towson a 6-5 lead. Delaware (17-25, 4-9 CAA) threatened in the seventh when Liz Winslow doubled to right field with two outs. Randi Isaacs followed with an infield single on which pinch-runner Ashley Green moved up to third base. However, Jessica Wides struck out Jenn Joseph to end the game.
