RICHMOND, VA -- A total of 58 University of Delaware student-athletes from the sports of men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, women’s volleyball, and women’s field hockey have been selected to the Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner’s Fall Academic All-Conference team.
Student-athletes who participated for their respective CAA-sponsored teams during the 2005 fall season and compiled a 3.2 or better grade point average for either the 2005 fall semester or for their cumulative career were recognized. The CAA will select a spring team, involving men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s outdoor track and field, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s golf, baseball, and softball in June.
Those Blue Hen student-athletes recognized included 19 women’s cross country participants (79 percent of the team), 13 women’s soccer players (43 percent), nine men’s cross country runners (55 percent), eight members of the volleyball squad (50 percent), five field hockey players, and four men’s soccer players.
Highlighting the honorees were 2005 men’s soccer CoSIDA Academic All-American and CAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year Matt Haney (at right), 2005 women’s soccer CoSIDA All District Academic selection Jennifer Krepps, and 2005 All-CAA selections Casey Howard (CAA All-Rookie field hockey), Colleen Walsh (2nd team volleyball), Caitlyn Germain (CAA All-Rookie women’s soccer), and Lauren Petchel (2nd team women’s soccer).
Haney, women’s soccer standout Shelby Lawrence, and women’s cross country runners Allison Behrle and Leslie Wason each recorded a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the fall semester.
