ALTAMONTE SPRING, FL -- The University of Delaware men's and women's tennis teams stayed as hot as the Florida weather on Friday evening at Sanlando Park, beginning their Spring Break swing through the Sunshine State with victories over Colonial Athletic Association rival Drexel. The undefeated women rolled to their sixth consecutive shutout win, blanking the Dragons 7-0, while the men outlasted Drexel 5-2 to notch their fifth straight victory.

Senior No. 1 Susan Pollack got the Hens going with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Emily Lewis, while freshman Courtney Fenimore delivered a 6-2, 6-0 drubbing of Melissa Lewis at second singles. Sophomore Elena Berry was just as impressive at the third spot, where she coasted by the Dragons' Hana Stecova by a 6-0, 6-1 tally.

The Blue Hens (6-0, 2-0 CAA) continued to roll, as junior Amanda Campbell surrendered just one game in a straight-sets win over Jaime Wylie at No. 4 and senior Alexa Dragonette picked up a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Noorie Jadeja at No. 5. Freshman Ivana Petrich (at right) wrapped up the singles sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 defeat of DU's Ashley Doriss.

The UD women, off to their best start since beginning the 2004-05 season 7-0, won all three doubles matches, giving up a total of four games along the way.

The Hens boast a 36-0 singles record in dual-match play this season.

The men's team, meanwhile, fought off a pesky Drexel squad behind a thrilling second-singles win from junior Nolan Greenberg, who battled back from a set down for a 2-6, 6-4, 10-7 triumph over Drexel's Joe Koebele. Sophomore Sam Barrer had little trouble with the Dragons' Carlo Pangilinan, posting a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 3, and freshman Chris Hincker topped Jason Savage-Pollock 6-1, 6-0.

Delaware, now 6-3 on the year and 2-0 in the CAA, got a crucial point from senior No. 6 Jonathan Schwartz, who beat Jarrod Popovice 6-3, 6-1. The Hens also won two of the three hotly-contested doubles matches, as their top duo of Longacre and Greenberg nipped Omar Laalej and Savage-Pollock 9-7 while Barrer and Perez scored a 9-7 victory of their own at No. 3.

The men's and women's teams continue their trek through Florida on Saturday, when they visit Stetson.
