RICHMOND, VA – Sophomore Austin Longacre and junior Nolan Greenberg (at right) were named the Colonial Athletic Association Doubles Team of the Week in men’s tennis on Tuesday, while senior Susan Pollack and freshman Courtney Fenimore were honored as CAA Doubles Team of the Week on the women’s side.
Longacre and Greenberg won both of their doubles matches last week, as they posted an 8-4 victory over Patrick Cerruti and Phil Garabedian of Saint Joseph’s on Thursday afternoon and an 8-4 rout of Lehigh’s John Nespoli and Troy List on March 18. UD’s No. 1 pair all season, Longacre and Greenberg improved to 12-5 on the year with Tuesday’s 8-3 triumph over Brian Fitzgerald and Dan Schneider of George Mason. They’ve won four consecutive doubles matches for the Blue Hens, who have ridden their own four-game winning streak to a 5-3 record.
Pollack and Fenimore, meanwhile, have gone 13-4 at first doubles for the women’s squad. On Tuesday, they defeated GMU’s Lindsay Gray and Stacey Berlinger by an 8-2 score to help the Hens (5-0, 1-0 CAA) to a 7-0 shutout of the Patriots. The duo has won four straight matches for the Blue Hens, who are off to their best start since the 2004-05 campaign.
Pollack has collected 65 career doubles victories, the most in Delaware history.
Pollack and Fenimore are the first UD women's doubles team ever to take home a CAA weekly award.
The conference honored Old Dominion’s Aleksandr Seleznev as Men’s Player of the Week, while Martina Nitkova of Georgia State was named Women’s Player of the Week.
