University of Delaware Men’s Tennis Drops Road Match at George Washington

WASHINGTON, DC -- The George Washington University men’s tennis team did not drop a set while posting a 7-0 win over the University of Delaware Saturday evening.

The Colonials improved to 3-7 on the season and moved to 8-2 all-time against the Hens, while Delaware fell to 1-5 on the year.

George Washington’s Mustafa Gencsoy defeated freshman Austin Longacre 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Sam Salyer topped sophomore Nolan Greenberg (at right) 7-5, 7-5 at No. 2. Brandon Harris posted a 6-1, 6-4 victory over sophomore Matthew Liebman at No. 3, while Mark Doumba defeated freshman Sam Barrer 6-0, 6-3 at No. 4. Elliot Daniels topped junior Jon Schwartz 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5, and Maxx Wattenberg downed freshman Camilo Perez 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6.

Daniels and Salyer defated Greenberg and Barrer 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, while Harris and Ryan Hunter edged Andrew Blumberg and Longacre 8-6 at No. 2. Doumba and Gencsoy completed the doubles sweet with an 8-4 win over Perez and Jason Hanschmann at No. 3.

The Blue Hens return to action Saturday when Delaware travels to Maryland for a 12 noon start time.
