RICHMOND, VA -- University of Delaware men’s tennis players Sam Barrer (right) and Camilo Perez were named the Colonial Athletic Association Doubles team of the Week for the week ending April 1.
The freshman duo went 2-0 on the week at No. 3 doubles, picking up wins against Bethune-Cookman and Stetson. Barrer and Perez teamed for an 8-2 win over Bethune-Cookman’s Jerome Ward and Edson Luiz Gomes and then posted an 8-5 victory over Stetson’s Peter Dzuba and Bret Feldman. Barrer and Perez also were victorious in singles in both matches.
Barrer (Reading, PA/Exeter) and Perez (Bucaramanga, Columbia) are 4-0 as a team this season, with all their wins coming at No. 3 doubles.
Georgia State sophomore Nejc Podkrajsek was chosen as the CAA Men’s Tennis Singles Players of the Week after going 4-0 at number two singles at the Boise State Invitational.
The Blue Hens return to action Friday when Delaware host George Mason at 12 noon at the Delaware Field House Tennis Courts.
