NEWARK, DE -- George Washington University won 12
races in the men's meet and 11 in the women's meet to post a
sweep over host University of Delaware in a non-league
swimming and diving meet Saturday at Rawstrom Pool.
The Colonial men (6-0) defeated Delaware 157-86 while the
GW women (5-1) defeated the UD women 158-85. The Delaware
men fell to 3-5 on the season while the women's team fell to
4-4.
In the men's race, George Washington got three wins each
from Wes Teteri, Joe Garallo, and Juan Bocanegra to post the
win. Delaware posted its only win at one-meter diving where
Brian Aston (Cheshire, CT HS) recorded 263.93 points
to take first place.
Picking up second place finishes for the Hens were
Luke Schenck (Erie Cathedral Prep/Edinboro, PA) in
the 1,000 freestyle (10:01), Ryan Fauth (Gettysburg,
PA HS) in the 200 freestyle (1:46) and 200 backstroke
(2:02), Mike Zambarano (Mercersburg/Harrisburg, PA)
in the 50 freestyle (21.94) and 100 freestyle (48.98),
Jim Reichart (Emmaus, PA HS) in the 500 freestyle
(4:55), and Aston in the three-meter dive (252.53). The 400
freestyle relay team of Zambarano, Fauth, Eric Betsko
(Bloomsburg, PA HS), and Ian Miller (Dover, PA HS)
also placed second in 3:17.
