Former University of Delaware swimming standout Meredith Law was named graduate assistant coach for the Blue Hen men’s and women’s teams in July, 2007 and begins her second season on head coach John Hayman's staff in 2008-09.

Law, a native of Chesapeake, VA, joins a staff that includes Hayman, assistant coach Rory Coleman, diving coach Peter Metrinko, and fellow graduate assistant Levan Beridze.

Law, who has worked as a youth swimming instructor since the age of 12, earned her degree in history with a minor in English and medeivel studies from Delaware in May, 2007. She is pursuing a master’s degree in education at Delaware.

A four-year standout at Delaware, Law ranked in the top 10 all-time in six events upon graduation and held the school record in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 7:35.69. She also ranked No. 3 in the 400 individual medley (4:33.69), No. 4 in the 1,000 freestyle (10:29.47), No. 4 in the 500 freestyle (5:02.14), No. 6 in the 1,650 freestyle (17:23.31), and No. 7 in the 200 freestyle (1:54.51).

She posted 15 career top 10 finishes at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships, including capturing the 800 freestyle relay title as a freshman in 2004. She also finished fourth in the 800 freestyle relay in 2007, fifth in the 1,650 freestyle in 2005, fifth in the 800 freestyle relay in 2005, and fifth in the 500 freestyle in 2004 at the CAA meet.

She also was a two-time winner of the team’s Sportsmanship Award. She earned six letters at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy and was the team Most Valuable Performer all four seasons and also won the team’s Spirit Award.
