SOMERS, WI -- University of Delaware standout swimmers Andrew Zinn and Cortney Barry were named to the Honorable Mention Mid-Major All-American team as selected by CollegeSwimming.com.

Based upon their performances in the Colonial Athletic Association championship meet, the two became the first Blue Hens to earn the recognition in program history.

The student-athletes who qualify for the 2008 NCAA Division I championship competition are honored as All-Americans, while those who earn NCAA 'B' time standards during the 2007-08 season are given 'Honorable Mention' accolades for their accomplishments.

On the men's side, 13 athletes were All-Americans, while 78 others garnered Honorable Mention nods. For the women, 30 swimmers were selected to the top team, while another 77 received recognition as Honorable Mention performers.

Zinn (at right) earned the honor after becoming the first Blue Hen swimmer in school history to meet a provisional qualifying time for the NCAA Championship competition. He reached the 'B' standard in the 50-freestyle after finishing second in the conference with a time of 20.16. Later, he returned to the pool and met the national standard in the 100-yard event after capturing the conference crown in 44.42.

Led by his efforts, the men's team finished in third-place at the CAA meet, marking Delaware's best finish ever at the competition. Individually, Zinn earned All-Conference honors in five separate events for his performance at the meet.

Barry earned her spot on the Honorable Mention team after becoming the second female swimmer in Delaware history to reach a 'B' standard with her performance in the 1,650-yard freestyle. During the event, she finished third with a time of 16:46.33. Her time beat the national standard by nearly seven full seconds.

She earned All-CAA honors for her showing in the event and eventually led the team to a sixth-place finish during the conference meet. During the regular season, she also helped the Hens win 12 competitions, falling just one victory short of tying the single-season program record.

Along with Zinn, Old Dominion's Patrick Balint and George Mason's Eric Knight were named to the men's list as well.

On the women's side, 11 other CAA athletes were named either All-Americans or Honorable Mention selections. Towson led the conference with four honorees as Meredith Budner, Jordan Crosby, Brooke Golden, and Kayla Zeller all were named to the list. Drexel's Kate Hynes, William & Mary's Katie Radloff and Marina Falcone, George Mason's Sarah Bizer, UNC Wilmington's Caitlin Kirsteier and Danielle Mortensen, and James Madison's P.J. Naber also were honored. Hynes and Radloff were the only All-American selections from the conference.

Yale's Alex Righi was named the men's Mid-Major Swimmer of the Year, while Alicia Aemisegger of Princeton garnered the title on the women's side for the second straight season.
