NEWARK, DE -- Andrew Zinn (at right) won two events and set school and pool records in the 50 freestyle to lead the University of Delaware men's swimming and diving team to a 186-101 victory over Towson University in a Colonial Athletic Association meet Saturday afternoon at Rawstrom Natatorium in the Carpenter Sports Building.
In the women's meet, the University of Delaware had an eight-meet dual meet win streak snapped in a 193-101 setback to Towson. Shannon Burke won both diving events to lead the Blue Hen women in the meet.
The Delaware men (7-3, 3-1 CAA) captured 11 first place finishes as Zinn won the 50 freeestyle and 100 freestyle events, John Ohlhaver won both the 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke races, Michael Wodoslawsky captured the 100 butterfly, Matt Wehrman won the 500 freestyle, Matt Abbruzzese captured the one-meter diving event, Grady Carter won the 100 breaststroke, Dominic Pavlik won the 200 freestyle, and Craig Offutt won the 1,000 freestyle. Delaware also captured the 200 medley relay with the team of Ohlhaver, Carter, Adam Blomberg, and Zinn.
Zinn raced to a time of 20.44 in the 50 freestyle to break his own record of 20.62 and broke the Rawstrom Natatorium record of 20.70 set by Matt Carrico of Northeastern in 1992-93.
On the women's side, Burke won both the one-meter and three-meter diving events while Emily Smathers captured the 200 backstroke and Kailey Pelton was the winner in the 200 butterfly.
