University of Delaware Swimmers Garrett Arant, Maryann Walker Sweep Weekly CAA Honors

RICHMOND, VA -- University of Delaware junior Garrett Arant and sophomore Maryann Walker have swept the weekly Colonial Athletic Association Male and Female Swimmer of the Week Awards for the period ending Nov. 13.

Arant, a native of Newark, DE (Newark High School), was named CAA Men’s Swimmer of the Week as he led Delaware to a 152-146 win over CAA foe Drexel on Saturday, giving the Hens their first win over the Dragons since the 1999-2000 season. He led the way with three victories as he captured the 1,000 freestyle (9:57.00), the 500 freestyle (4:55.0), and the 200 backstroke (1:58.27).

Walker, a native of Ellicott City, MD (Mt. Hebron High School), led Delaware to a sweep over Drexel and Vermont in their tri-meet in Philadelphia. She won the 200 backstroke and broke the pool record standard with a time of 2:07.31. She also swam a leg of the winning 400 freestyle relay (3:36.81) and 200 yard medley relay (1:50.40) and placed second in the 200 freestyle (1:55.08).

In addition to Arant and Walker, Drexel’s Brett Molash was named CAA Men’s Diver of the Week and Drexel’s Kate Hynes was named CAA Women’s Diver of the Week.
