RICHMOND, VA -- Freshman goalkeeper Conrad Rusnak (right), who made 10 saves in a 2-0 shutout of regionally-ranked Old Dominion on Friday night, was named Colonial Athletic Association Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday by the league's coaches.
A native of Glenwood, NJ, Rusnak hadn't seen a minute of action all season until Friday, when head coach Ian Hennessy decided to test out the young keeper against the CAA-leading Monarchs, ranked fifth in the South Atlantic region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Rusnak was up to the challenge, collecting ten saves - at least four of them on point-blank shots - to lead the Blue Hens to their first win over Old Dominion since 1976.
Rusnak shares Rookie of the Week honors with James Madison forward CJ Sapong. He is the second Blue Hen to be named Rookie of the Week this season, joining freshman midfielder Demar Stephenson, who was honored on Oct. 8.
