The University of Delaware men's track team sent 10 athletes to the Navy Invitational at Annapolis, Md. Five of the athletes came home with third place finishes or better.
John Marino placed second in the 110 meter high hurdles and ran in a time of 15.4 seconds. Jay Tanjuan of Navy placed first in a time of 15.1 seconds. Sam Yarrington placed second and Mike Chadwick placed third in the hammer throw. Yarrington had a distance of 51.02 meters and Chadwick had a throw of 48.90 meters. Rory Caherly of Navy came in first with a throw of 56.70 meters. Tom Marando came in second place with a throw of 14.79 meters in the shot put trailing only Navy's Jeff Hollenbach won the event with a throw of 15.95 meters. Eric Sands placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 14.29 meters.
In other events, Justin Donato placed seventh in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.4 seconds. Fred DePalma placed fifth and Andy Palm placed seventh in the Javelin. DePalma had a distance of 47.66 meters and Palm 46.16 meters. Michael Chadwick placed seventh and Mike Goodhart placed eighth in the discus throw.
The men's track competes again on March 27 in the Rider Invitational.
