GEESAMAN, MARANDO, CONNELL LEAD DELAWARE TRACK AT RIDER INVITATIONAL

 

 LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – University of Delaware athletes took three first place finishes and 12 second place finishes at the Rider University Outdoor Track and Field Invitational Saturday afternoon.

 Dave Geesaman won the 5,000 meters and Tom Marando captured the shot put for the men while Brandy Connell was the women’s champion in the hammer throw.

 Geesaman ran to a time of 15:05.2 to win his event while Marando tossed the shot put 15.34 meters and Connell tossed the hammer 53 meters to claim the top spot.

 Placing second for the Blue Hen men were Eric Sands in the shot put (14.65m), Mike Hendrickson in the pole vault (12-9), Mike Chadwick in the discus (41.66), Sam Yarrington in the hammer (51.06m), and the 400 meter (44.30) and 800 meter (1:33.5) relay teams. Chadwick also placed third in the hammer (50.0m) and Rick Romeo was fourth in both the 100 meters (11.34) and 200 meter races.

 Also for the Delaware women, Tehera Nesfield placed second in the 200 meters (27.59) and third in the long jump (4.60m), Karen Reber was second in the 3,000 meters (10:57.67), Caron Marra was second in the 1,500 meters (4:45.48), and the 3,200 meter relay (9;35.69), 400 meter relay (52.72) , and 1,600 meter relays (4:10.78) all placed second.
