Connell Wins Hammer Throw at Penn Relays

 

PHILADELPHIA -- Senior Brandy Connell won the College Hammer throw with a school record toss of 175-8 to highlight the University of Delaware at the Penn Relays Carnival at the University of Pennsylvania's Franklin Field.

Connell won the hammer throw on Thursday to highlight Delaware performances. Also for the Delaware women, the 4 x 800 meter relay team of Kristen Robbins, Caron Marra, Jennifer Crocco, and Sarah Johnson placed 16th with a time of 9:11.03 and the 4 x 400 meter relay team of Colleen Christopher, Tehera Nesfield, Denise Brijbasi, and Jennifer Lublanecki placed 12th in a time of 4:19.38.

In Delaware's men's action on Friday, the 4 x 100 meter relay team of Rick Romeo, Brandon Jones, Ed Montalvo, and Irvin McGhee placed fourth in their heat in a time of 43.57; the distance medley relay team of Mike DiGennaro, Andrew Johnson, Bokah Worjolah, and Kevin Danahy was 17th in a time of 10:12.54; and the 4 x 200 meter relay team of Romeo, Montalvo, Brian Demlein, and Gary Fairchild was sixth in its heat with a time of 1:30.66.

In Saturday's action, the 4 x 800 meter relay team of Joe Quigley, Troy Bockius, Mark Coyle, and Steve Sinko placed 14th overall with a time of 7:36.58 and Mike Chadwick placed 17th in the hammer throw with a toss of 169-11.
