Wins Two Events, Six Other Blue Hens Win
One as Delaware Men's Outdoor Track Wins
Delaware Invitational

- The University of Delaware men's outdoor
track team finished first out of six teams
while the Blue Hen women were third out of
10 teams at the Delaware Invitational held
Friday and Saturday at the Delaware
Mini-Stadium.
The Blue
Hens won the men's Division I meet with
280.50 points followed by Morgan State
(158.50), Delaware State (97), Coppin
State (58), Temple (41), and American
(19). SUNY Cortland took the men's
Division II/III meet with 147 points,
ahead of Salisbury (102.33) and Moravian
(100).
Navy won
the women's Division I meet with 218.50
points, ahead of Morgan State (128),
Delaware (125.50), Towson (121.50), and
Colgate (42.50). Delaware State finished
sixth with 29.50 points, followed by
Temple (21.50), George Mason (12), Coppin
State (8), and American (3). Muhlenberg
took the women's Division II/III meet with
169 points, ahead of Moravian (155.50) and
SUNY Cortland (112.50).
Mike Yost
led the Delaware men by winning the discus
throw with a mark of 150'0" and the hammer
throw with a mark of 171'1". Brad Dodson
won the 1500 meter run in 3:58.56, while
P.J. Meany took the 5000 meter run in
15:07.92 and Jay Bradley captured the 110
meter hurdles in 15.21. Pete Kane won the
3000 meter steeplechase in 10:22.38, Matt
Guida took the pole vault with a mark of
13'11.25", and Adam Cianfichi captured the
javelin with a throw of 189'0".
Pat Henry
was second in the 200 meter dash in 22.14,
Charlie Williams placed second in the 400
meter dash in 49.39, and Dodson was second
in the 800 meter run in 1:54.59. Tyler
Mayforth finished second in the 5000 meter
run in 15:24.77, Chris Dixon placed second
in the 400 meter hurdles in 55.31, and
Matt O'Brian was second in the 3000 meter
steeplechase in 10:31.57. Matt Arbaugh
finished second in the pole vault with a
mark of 12'11.50", Tony DiUlio was second
with a discus throw of 136'10", Hao Guan
placed second with a hammer throw of
135'9", and Eric Lehrer finished second
with a javelin throw of 170'10". The Blue
Hen 4x100 meter relay team was second in
42.28 while the 4x400 meter relay team was
also second in 3:22.96.
Casey
Bennett led the Blue Hen women by winning
the pole vault with a mark of 11'5.75",
while Asha Quant won the long jump with a
jump of 18'3.75". Rayna Horsey finished
second in the 200 meter dash in 25.54,
Lisa Weeks was second with a discus throw
of 120'8", and Rachel Young placed second
with a hammer throw of 125'3". Horsey
placed third in the 100 meter dash in
12.53, Kate Klim finished third in the
5000 meter run in 18:27.50, and Colleen
Reid was third in the 3000 meter
steeplechase in 12:29.74. Stephanie Cronk
was third with a hammer throw os 118'8",
Julie Hischmann was third with a javelin
throw of 118'0", and the Blue Hen 4x100
meter relay team finished third in
49.06.
Both
Delaware outdoor track teams will compete
in the Rider Invitational next Saturday in
Lawrenceville, NJ.
