Penn Relays, Millersville Medley's and Lion's Invitational

Yost, Patson Lead Way for Delaware

NEWARK, DE - The University of Delaware men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Penn Relays, Millersville Metrics and the College of New Jersey Lions Invitational Track & Field Meet on Saturday afternoon.

Mike Yost posted a second place finish at the Lion's Invitational in the men's hammer throw preliminaries with a mark of 50.51m, while Joe Patson finished sixth in the event with a throw of 40.51m. Yost also finished ninth in the discus preliminaries with a throw of 41.18. On the women's side, Jess Urbonas finished second in the women's javelin preliminaries with a mark of 34.58m, while Lauren Palmer came in ninth place in the women's hammer throw with a throw of 36.12m.

At the 25th Anniversary Millersville Metrics, held at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA, Jerome Holder posted a first place finish for the men in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.8, while Patrick Boettcher finished first in the 800 meters with a time of 1:53.80 and John Morgan captured the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:01.9. Other top finishers included Mike Sadowsky in the 5,000 meters (fourth, 15:24.50), Dennis Spence in the long jump (fifth, 20-0), and Holder (sixth, 57.7) and Ryan McGlensey (seventh - 57.9) in the 400m hurdles.

On the women's side at Millersville, Lissy Dean finished in first place in the triple jump with a mark of 35-7 1/4, third in the long jump with a mark of 16-0and fifth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 68.4 seconds. Other top finishers for Delaware included Laura Dietrich in the triple jump (fourth, 33-2 1/2), Kim Rubin in the 400m hurdles (sixth, 1:09.9) and the 100m hurdles (ninth, 17.3), and Ashley Olsen in the 3,000 meters (10th, 11:04.7).

At the Penn Relays on Friday, the women's 4 x 200m team of Elizabeth Russell, Daniella Price, Tyechia Smith and Kristin Frustillo established a new school record with a time of 1:43.20, breaking the time of 1:45.64, to place them fifth in their heat. The women also set a school record in the sprint medley relay, as Rachel Schultz, Price, Smith, and Erin Gemmill finished 24th with a time of 4:04.37. The old record was 4:06.61.

In men's action at the Penn Relays on Friday, the men's 4 x 100m relay team finished ninth in their heat with a time of 43.78. In the 4 x 200m relays, the team posted a sixth place finish with a time of 1:30.44 in their heat, while the 4 x 400m relay team finished seventh in the heat with a time of 3:20.85.
