PRINCETON, NJ -- The University of Delaware closed out competition at the IC4A Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships Sunday afternoon with freshman John Viotto (at right) placing 20th in the shot put at Princeton University’s Weaver Stadium.

Viotto, who was the runner-up in the event at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships last month, threw the shot put 48-feet, 3/4-inches to place 20th overall. Chris Keller of Monmouth University won the event with a toss of 55-feet, 1 1/2-inches.

The three-day event, which also includes the women’s Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships, concluded on Sunday.

Liberty University captured the IC4A team title with 62 points followed by Virginia, Georgetown, Syracuse, Albany, UNC Wilmington, Coppin State, Princeton, Iona, and Lehigh.

Connecticut won the women’s ECAC team title with 83 total points to outdistance runner-up Virginia. Cornell was third followed by William & Mary, Georgetown, Maryland, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Seton Hall, and Boston College.

As CAA championships in their events, Delaware’s Connor Whitesel (hammer) and Chase Renoll (shot put) both have qualified for the NCAA Regionals May 30-31 at Florida State but will not compete.

Senior Asha Quant of the UD women's track and field team will compete at the NCAA East Regionals in the long jump.
