Yarrington Leads Hens With 2nd Place Finish in Hammer Throw


WILLIAMSBURG, VA -- Annemarie Quinn won the high jump on the women's side and Sam Yarrington was second in the hammer on the men's side to lead the University of Delaware Outdoor Track and Field teams at the Colonial Relays this past weekend at the College of William & Mary.

Quinn won the high jump with a leap of 5-8 and was also 14th in the long jump (17-1 1/2). She was one of nine UD women's athletes to place in the top 20.

Also for the Hens, Caltha Seymour was fourth in the hammer (152-6), Caron Marra was sixth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (10:07.86), Sarah Johnson was 11th in the 3,000 steeplechase (10:29.54), Melissa Calvanico was 11th in the shot put (38-6 1/4), Katie Scheaffer was 13th in the 400 meter hurdles (1:09.30), Colleen Christopher was 16th in the long jump (17 1/2), Rebecca Shaw was 18th in the 400 hurdles (1:10.22), Jenn Krisch was 20th in the 1,500 meters (4:56.65), and Jen Lublanecki was 20th in the 400 meters (1:00.94).

Yarrington was second in the hammer with a toss of 176-6 and was one of 11 top 20 finishes for the Blue Hens. In addition, Delaware's 4 x 1,500 meter relay team of Troy Bockius, Pat Boettcher, Robb Munro, and Mike DiGennaro set a new UD record with a time of 16:00.00.

Also for the Hens, DiGennaro was eighth in the 3,000m steeplechase (9:25.00), Eric Sands was eighth in the discus (144-8), Tom Marando was ninth in the shot put (47-7 1/4), Munro was ninth in the steeplechase (9:14.20), Andrew Palm was ninth in the javelin (182-3), Bockius was 12th in the 800 meters (1:56.25), Mark Coyle was 14th in the 800 meters (1:57.19), Pat Riley was 17th in the 5,000 meters (15:07.00), Ishmael Fontaine was 19th in the 100 meters (11.51), and Ben Cosgrove was 20th in the 400 meter hurdles (57.75)
