
High School: Played lacrosse and ice hockey at nearby St. Mark's High School...four-year varsity standout in lacrosse for coach Curt Sawyer...team advanced to the state title game in 2003...three-time All-State selection, earning first team honors in 2007 and second team laurels in 2005 and 2006...registererd 70 goals and 24 assists as a junior...played left wing in ice hockey...team finished second in the state in 2005-06...involved in student government.
At Delaware: First-year member of the squad as an attackman...will sit out 2008 season and have four years of eligibility in 2009....joins senior Cam Howard and sophomore Andrew Unthank as Delaware natives on the squad this spring.
Personal: Derek Scott Sherman...son of Mike and Marilyn Sherman...sport management major at Delaware...has an older brother and older sister...brother, Chris, played college lacrosse at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2002-06...father works at General Motors and mother is a nurse...works as an electrician during the summer...hobbies include skimboarding, wakeboarding, and fishing. |
