
High School: Participated in lacrosse, soccer, and indoor track and field at Half Hollow Hills West High School...three-year starter who played defense and long stick midfield in lacrosse and served as captain of the team as a senior...earned all-county honors as both a junior and senior ...three-year starter in soccer as a midfielder...was a sprinter for track and field team...honor roll student.
At Delaware: Fourth-year member of the squad...has earned one letter...will battle for a key backup role on experienced and talented Blue Hen defensive unit...will add strength to Delaware's man-down defense unit...has played in 15 career games for Delaware...tough defender despite size.
2007 Season: One of team's most improved players...played a key role on defense in leading Delaware to the Colonial Athletic Association title and NCAA Final Four berth...saw action in 14 games with five starts...broke into starting lineup late in the season and started five of the final six games, including both CAA Tournament games and NCAA Tournament contests vs. Virginia and UMBC...had 17 groundballs and three caused turnovers on the season...had five groundballs vs. Mt. St. Mary's and recorded four in CAA title game win over Towson when he also had two caused turnovers...keyed a defense that ranked No. 2 nationally in man-down defense (.817) and No. 16 in scoring defense (8.05).
2006 Season: Second-year player...saw action in just one game...recorded shot on goal vs. Robert Morris...team advanced to the CAA title game.
2005 Season: Did not see game action and maintained freshman eligibility....team advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
Personal: Matthew David “Matt” Myones (“my-owns”)...son of Andrew and Cynthia Myones...oldest of three children...accounting major at Delaware...worked as a camp counselor and in sales during the summer...uncle, Ronald Myones, wrestled at Oklahoma State...enjoys listening to music and playing video games and golf in spare time. |
