2007 Season: Defensive midfielder who played a key role leading Delaware to the Colonial Athletic Association title and NCAA Final Four berth...played outstanding in Hens' three NCAA Tournament games...saw action in 17 games and started contests vs. Georgetown and Duke...missed regular season games vs. Towson and Villanova with injuries...scored only goal of the season vs. Mt. St. Mary's....had four assists, including two in NCAA first round win over Virginia and one each vs. Mt. St. Mary's and Robert Morris...also had 12 shots, 37 groundballs, and 15 caused turnovers...ranked third on team in caused turnovers...had season-high five groundballs vs. Georgetown and Virginia and caused three turnovers vs. Georgetown...also had two caused turnovers in NCAA Tournament games vs. UMBC and Johns Hopkins...keyed a defense that ranked No. 2 nationally in man-down defense (.817) and No. 16 in scoring defense (8.05).
2006 Season: Played in all 17 games as a defensive midfielder and led Delaware to CAA championship game appearance...scored two goals on the season - vs. Sacred Heart and in CAA title game vs. Hofstra...also recorded 18 groundballs, including season-high three vs. Albany...keyed a defense that ranked No. 1 nationally in man-down defense (.811) and No. 16 in scoring defense (8.18).
2005 Season: Saw action in two games as a freshman...played in season opener vs. Saint Joseph’s and also saw action in win over Albany...registered one groundball...team advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
Personal: Brett Matthew Manney...son of James and Kathy Manney...English major with a minor in journalism at Delaware...has been active working with UD student radio station WVUD 91.3 as a play-by-play and color commentator for football and basketball broadcats and would like to pursue a career in radio or television broadcasting...has served as an intern with WIP Radio 610 in Philadelphia and WBCB Radio 1490 in Levittown, PA during the summers....has also worked as a valet...has an older sister and a twin brother, Ryan...sister, Megan, played soccer at Monmouth University...mother is nurse....has been active as a volunteer with Special Olympics at Delaware. |
