
High School : Three-sport standout in lacrosse, football, and baseball at Conestoga High School...earned four varsity letters in lacrosse and earned All-Central League, All-Main Line, and All-Easter Pennsylvania as a senior in 2005...team MVP as a senior...in football played wide receiver and was part of two Central League championship teams...played shortstop in baseball...honor roll student.
At Delaware: Third-year player who will add depth to Blue Hen midfield unit as a sophomore...has played in one career game.
2007 Season: Did not see game action for team that captured the Colonial Athletic Association title and advanced to the NCAA Final Four.
2006 Season: Backup who appeared in one game for a team that advanced to the CAA championship game...saw action in 16-2 win over Wagner but did not record a statistic.
2005 Season: Did not see game action and retained freshman eligibility...team advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
Personal: Robert Bruce “Rob” Bassett...son of Bruce and Marjorie Bassett...finance major at Delaware...oldest of three boys...father, Bruce, played lacrosse at both Gettysburg and Delaware and earned degree from Delaware in 1979...great grandfather, Ralph "Pep" Young, played seven years in the major leagues with the Detroit Tigers and was a teammate of Ty Cobb...he later was head baseball coach at Temple and Saint Joseph's and is a member of the SJU Hall of Fame...enjoys golf in his spare time. |
