Seven Former University of Delaware Men’s Lacrosse Standouts Playing Professional Indoor Lacrosse This Winter

NEW YORK -- Seven former University of Delaware men’s lacrosse standouts are competing in the professional indoor National Lacrosse League this winter.

Five former Blue Hen standouts - goalkeeper Chris Collins, midfielder Jordan Hall, defenders Keevin Galbraith and Bryan Barrett, and attackman Matt Alrich - are members of the New York Titans while attackmen John Grant and Scott Evans (#19 above left/Photo Courtesy of Rochester Knighthawks) are members of the defending league champion Rochester Knighthawks.

The Titans are off to a 1-0 start after defeating Portland 14-11 in their season opener January 12 while Rochester is 1-1 with a 12-9 win over Buffalo Jan. 11 and a 14-9 setback to Buffalo Jan. 12. Rochester will next play at Philadelphia Jan. 18 while New York will be in action Jan. 19 vs. Buffalo.

Grant, an All-American and the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Player of the Year in 1999 when he led the Blue Hens to the NCAA quarterfinals, is now in his ninth season in the league, all with Rochester. One of the top playes in NLL history, he has scored 347 career goals in NLL play, including 51 last year when he was the league’s leading scorer with 111 total points. He has four goals and seven assists in two games this season.

Evans, who played at Delaware in 2002-03, is now in his fifth season in the league, all with Rochester. He has scored 112 career goals, including 45 last year when he ranked fourth in the league in total points with 87. He is currently Rochester’s leading goal scorer with five goals and three assists in two games.

Alrich, a two-time All-Colonial Athletic Association selection while at Delaware in 2000-04, is playing in his fourth season in the league and his second with New York. He saw action in the opener vs. Portland and had four loose balls but did not score. He played in 16 games for New York last season and recorded one goal and eight assists. He played his first two seasons with the San Jose Stealth.

Barrett, a standout for the Blue Hens in 1999-2001 and a two-time first team all-conference selection, is currently in his second season with the Titans and his seventh season overall. He did not play in the opener vs. Portland. He played in 16 games with New York last season after playing the previous five years with the Philadelphia Wings. He has played in 52 career games entering the season.

Collins, a three-year standout goalkeeper for the Blue Hens who twice earned all-conference honors and was a 2005 All-American for UD’s NCAA playoff squad, is a first-year member of the Titans squad but did not play in the opener. He also serves as goalkeeper coach for the University of Delaware squad for head coach Bob Shillinglaw.

Galbraith, who earned first team all-conference honors in 2001 as a midfielder for Delaware, is a fourth-year veteran of the league and a second-year member of the Titans. He did not score in the opener vs. Portland but contributed three loose balls. He played in 12 games a year ago and had two goals and seven assists. He played with Philadelphia during the 2004 and 2005 seasons.

Hall, the 2005 Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year and a 2007 USILA All-American when he scored 26 goals and dished out 12 assists and led the Blue Hens to the NCAA semifinals for the first time in school history, is a rookie with the Titans and was the No. 1 draft pick in the league this past fall. He delivered three assists in the Titans’ season-opening win over Portland.
