Delaware Men’s Lacrosse Moves to No. 16 in USILA Polls; Will Host No. 14 Towson Wednesday

athlete photoBALTIMORE -- The University of Delaware dropped three spots in this week’s United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, falling to No. 17 heading into Wednesday’s key Colonial Athletic Association showdown vs. No. 14 Towson.

The Blue Hens (6-4, 1-1 CAA), who also dropped four spots to No. 18 in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse Poll announced Monday, will take on league-leading Towson (6-3, 3-0 CAA) Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Rullo Stadium. Delaware, which is coming off an 11-7 loss at Drexel Saturday, will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak.

Delaware has now appeared in the top 20 in both polls each of the last seven weeks.

Cornell remained at No. 1 in both polls, earning all 12 first votes in the USILA poll and 17 of 18 in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse poll. In the USILA rankings, Albany was at No. 2 followed by Virginia, Duke, Georgetown, Princeton, Maryland, Navy, Johns Hopkins, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Bucknell, Loyola, Towson, UMBC, Drexel, Delaware, Syracuse, Fairfield, and Brown.

In the Nike/Inside Lacrosse poll, Virginia was at No. 2 followed by Albany, Duke, Princeton, Georgetown, Maryland, Navy, North Carolina, Johns Hopkins, Notre Dame, Loyola, Bucknell, UMBC, Towson, Drexel, Syracuse, Delaware, Stony Brook, and Rutgers.
